Choose the Perfect Beachside Accommodation
Robe is a picturesque seaside town that’s home to many beautiful beaches, historical sites, and luxury romantic accommodations in South Australia. Whether it’s a family-friendly vacation or one with your significant other in a cottage by the sea, this tranquil region has so much to offer visitors.
But along with the many activities and sceneries, there are a few key ‘must-dos’ that make Robe truly magical. So as locals, here are our top things you can do for an unforgettable holiday in Robe.
Start your day right with the local café
The best things in life are often simple and understated – and sometimes, there’s nothing better than a good cup of coffee with the locals to begin your day.
The Robe community is a friendly bunch, and a smile is often warmly returned. One of the best café frequented by locals is the Mahalia Coffee café, where the coffee is as good as it gets. It’s open from 7am to 4pm and is the go-to café for a good catch-up with friends and families while enjoying homemade cakes and pastries.
For visitors with children, we’d recommend securing a spot on the outdoor deck – as it’s connected to a local playground. That way, everyone gets a good start to their day!
Wine tasting at a Vineyard
Because of its cooler temperatures, Robe produces some of the best wines in the region. We think wineries are a must when visiting the area, and visitors are spoiled for choice in that department!
One of our favourite vineyards is Café Jaffa. This family-friendly and pet-friendly winery has a beautiful cellar door with stunning views of the grapevines. So if enjoying a glass of wine with a cheese platter sounds idea, then don’t give this one a miss!
Wangolina is another great winery that produces award-winning wines. The space allows guests to sample their wines at an open lawn area with ample space for kids to run around, so it’s certainly family-friendly. If you’re planning a wine-tasting visit, it’s highly recommended to book with all vineyards beforehand, especially during peak periods.
Enjoy a coastal walk
Robe has a stunning coastal walking trail that spans around 12km, and it’s a must-do for romantic holiday goers. Be it summer or winter, the walking trail is a great way to take in the sights of seas crashing into the high cliffs and reconnect with nature – and each other!
The walking trail also offers great views of various historical attractions, such as the Cape Dombey Obelisk, the Old Gaol, and the lighthouse. If you’re not up for a long walk, we’d suggest utilising the nearby parking at the obelisk and soaking in the stunning views at sunset.
